Telegram marketing glossary

Short definitions of the words you cannot do without when working with Telegram accounts: from sessions and warm-up to FloodWait and neurocommenting.

Accounts and access

Session (.session)
A file holding a Telegram account's authorisation key for the Telethon library. With it, software logs into the account without an SMS code. Usually sold together with a .json that holds the device parameters and the seller's data.
tdata
The Telegram Desktop folder with login data. It can be moved to another computer or turned into a session without logging in again.
2FA (cloud password)
The account's second password, asked after the code. You cannot log in on a new device without it, and some actions, such as deleting a large channel, require it to have been set for several days.
ProxySOCKS5, HTTP
An intermediate server the account reaches Telegram through. An account should use its own permanent proxy from the very first login: changing addresses and logging in from a data-centre IP trigger checks.
MTProto proxy
A proxy on Telegram's own protocol. It is set by address, port and secret, with no login or password.
Warm-up
Calm, ordinary activity of a new or bought account before work: joining channels, reading, reactions, chats. An account with a history gets limited later.Read more
Resting period
The time after purchase or registration when an account simply exists with no active actions, before warm-up starts.
Age by ID
An estimate of the registration date from the account's numeric ID: IDs are issued in ascending order, so neighbouring IDs registered at about the same time. Accurate to a month.Read more
777000
The ID of Telegram's service account that sends login codes and notices. Its first message in an account shows the exact registration date.

Telegram limits

Spam block
A limit from @SpamBot: the account cannot message people outside its contacts. It is either temporary, with a lift date, or permanent.Read more
Geo spam block
A spam block tied to the number's country: the account can message only people with numbers from the same country.
Freeze
An account block for breaking the rules: you can log in but cannot act until an appeal is approved.
FloodWait
Telegram's «wait N seconds» answer to actions of one kind that come too often. Retrying before the time is up only makes the pause longer.Read more
PeerFlood
A refusal to deliver a message to a stranger once the account has already written to too many. It usually comes before a spam block.

Work and metrics

Neurocommenting
Comments under channel posts written by a neural network from the post's meaning. They bring people to the account's profile and on to your channel or bot.Read more
Neurochatting
Neural-network messages in open chats on the topic of the conversation, so the account looks like a participant rather than an ad.Read more
Inviting
Adding users to your group or channel from accounts that are allowed to do it.Read more
Mailing
Direct messages to a list of users from several accounts. The fastest way to a spam block when sent quickly and with one text.Read more
Mass reactions
Reactions to posts and messages from many accounts. Channel owners and authors see the profile that reacted.Read more
Masslooking
Viewing stories at scale. The account lands in the viewers list, and some authors visit its profile.
Parsing
Collecting public data: chat members, comment authors, channels on a topic. The result becomes the audience for other modules.Read more
ER (engagement rate)
Views or reactions relative to subscribers. Shows whether a channel is really read or its subscribers are inflated.
